Athens is the capital and largest city of Greece. The Acropolis was the « high city », a characteristic place in most of the Greek cities that had a defensive function, in addition to serving as headquarters of the main places of worship.
The Parthenon is the main building in the architectural ensemble of the
Acropolis and the biggest symbol of beauty of ancient Greece´s classical
architecture. Built between 477 and 432 B.C., the imposing Doric-style building was
created to shelter a colossal sculpture of Athena Parthenos made of wood, ivory
and gold, which was twelve meters high.
Although most of the buildings of the Ancient Agora are not preserved in
very good conditions, today we can still see the former looks of the building
of the Stoa of Attalos, the old commercial centre of Athens, which currently
houses the Museum of the Ancient Agora, and the Temple of Hephaestus, one of
the best preserved ancient temples. It was built between 460 and 415 B.C. he Temple of Olympian Zeus, also known as the Olimpeion, was a great
temple built between the sixth and the second centuries B.C in honor of the god
Zeus Olympic.

the most famous dishes is moussaka.
